Match Report - 12 Nov 2011, Borden Village FC 1st XI lost to Guru Nanak

It looks like Borden are now set for a difficult season following yet another defeat at home this time to mid table Gravesend side Guru Nanak. The home side started well enough and went ahead after 4 mins when Ashley Yates headed home from a corner but for the second week running they held their lead for less than a minute as the visitors equalised straight from the restart. From then on Guru Nanak took the initiative and began to dominate for long periods and were rewarded with another goal on the half hour Borden continued to work hard with Joe Jones and Christian Hillyard putting in plenty of effort but any danger from the home side was swiftly dealt with by a capable and organised defence. Following the break the visitors carried on where they left off and on the hour scored a third Borden did as best they could trying to stem the flow but the movement off the ball from Guru Nanak made it difficult for the home side who went on to concede 2 more goals without reply. Afterwards manger Knocker Williams said “ Its obvious that we are shipping too many soft goals but it is becoming increasingly difficult to field an organised defence when I am forced into making changes every week”
