Match Report - 22 Oct 2011, Borden Village FC 1st XI lost to sevenoaks fc

Two goals down after 6mins and reduced to ten men after 17 mins led to a disastrous afternoon for the villagers. The home side conceded a goal within a minute of the start when the ball was played forward by Sevenoaks Borden’s defenders were caught wanting and a lively forward slipped in to slot the ball past the advancing Michael Neat. Five minutes later poor defending allowed Sevenoaks in for a second leaving Borden an uphill task. However they missed a golden opportunity to reduce the arrears when Tomas Babik picked out an unmarked Chris Feliniak in the six yard box but his header looped over the bar when it looked easier to score. Ten minutes later Borden were struck another blow when Lijah Tucker got his marching orders for a second yellow and Borden were down to 10 men. However they did battle well for the remainder of the half but Sevenoaks got their third seconds before the break. The second half was basically one way traffic which saw the home side constantly on the back foot as Sevenoaks dominated adding to their tally a further four goals without reply Afterwards a disappointed Knocker Williams said that “conceding early goals against a strong and well organised side like Sevenoaks and then to lose a man shortly after meant it was effectively game over”
