Match Report - 24 Sep 2011, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Tenterden Town
Borden recorded their first win of the season against lowly Tenterten and collected 3 points in fine style. The home side started well putting the visitors under pressure and after 10 mins opened their account when Dan Mills played a ball out to the right straight into the path of the pacey Lijah Tucker who after one touch unleashed an unstoppable 25 yarder into the net giving their keeper no chance. This gave Borden a platform on which to build and ten mins later they scored a second when Tomas Babik got to the bye line and pulled the ball back giving Joe Jones the opportunity to slip the ball under the advancing keeper. With Babik and Tucker causing all sorts of problems Borden scored a third thid time it was provider Babik turned goalscorer when he pounced on a loose ball in the box side stepped a defender and his shot found the bottom corner Two mins later Borden scored yet again when the keeper spilled a shot from Tucker and Jones capitalised for his second. Shortly before the break the visitors scored a superb goal from outside the box giving stand in keeper Nick Brown no chance.
Borden made some changes at half time, keeper Michael Neat who had been called out at last minute took his place in goal with Nick Brown moving to centre back replacing Chris Feliniak. The changes looked seamless as Borden continued to attack and on the hour Phil Jackson set off from the half way line powered his way past two defenders and from the edge of the box hammered a cracking drive into the top corner. Ten minutes before the end Borden scored a sixth when a deflected clearance fell to man of the match Babik and the Slovak picked his spot to secure a convincing win.
