Match Report

Match Report - 12 Mar 2011, Borden Village FC 1st XI lost to Malgo

Borden returned from West Malling empty handed and still in search of that elusive away win. The home side started strongly and Borden found themselves under pressure and pinned in their own half. MALGO took the lead after 15 mins when one of their strikers skipped around tethered Borden defenders and planted the ball firmly past a helpless Michael Neat. Borden tried to string some passes together without success and this was in part due to a bumpy playing surface assisted by a strong wind. Ten minutes later they conceded a second and minutes before the break a third

After the break they adapted better and began to take the game to the home side after 15 mins a long throw by Nicky Fuller found the head of Mark Barker who flicked it on and Dan Mills was at hand to head home at the far post. The goal proved no more than a consolation as ten minutes later the home side put the result beyond all doubt with a quality finish. On a more positive note 17 year old Aiden Jewiss made an impressive debut for Borden and looked a player for the future the only highlight on what was otherwise a miserable afternoon for them
