Match Report - 05 Feb 2011, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat tenterden town

This bottom of the table clash was a must win situation for the home side and they responded by adapting to the high winds which threatened to spoil the game. Starting with the wind behind them Borden knew that they had to use it to their advantage and score goals and after 10 mins Adam Roxborough played a one two with Nicky Fuller who was upended in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Up stepped Nick Brown who calmly stroked the ball into the net to give the home side the perfect start. Five minutes later Lijah Tucker found some space and unleashed a 35 yard screamer that hit the back of the net with the keeper rooted to his spot. Ten minutes later Chris Feliniak found Mark Barker at the far post who turned the ball in from close range. A rare attack saw the visitors reduce the arrears but just before the break Borden scored a fourth when Sam Brown delivered a free kick into the box which the keeper failed to hold and Nicky Fuller was at hand to hook the ball home. After the break it was about turn as Borden came under the cosh but resilient defending by James Bonney and Nick Brown kept Tenterten at bay Midway through the half the visitors scored again but it was Borden who finished the stronger by creating a number of half chances and Sam Brown was denied twice by desperate defending. The win moved Borden off the foot of the table and up 3 places
