Match Report - 22 Jan 2011, Borden Village FC 1st XI lost to Guru Nanak
Borden struggling at the foot of the table and searching for their first win this year received another defeat at the hands of fellow strugglers Guru Nanak. On a heavy pitch both teams started out quite lively but it was the visitors who went ahead after 15 mins with a well struck shot from the edge of the box. The goal unsettled Borden and although they continued having the better of exchanges but were let down by the final ball. Ten minutes later another defensive lapse let in Guru for a second and Borden were once again chasing the game. Borden reduced the arrears when Lijah Tucker broke down the left delivered a ball across the six yard and a visiting defender turned the ball into his own net. Following the break the home side had the majority of possession and launched a series of attacks but there was no rub of the green for them as a number of efforts were either deflected of cleared away from the danger zone. Trying to salvage something from the game Borden threw men forward but in the dying minutes were caught twice on the break giving Guru Nanak a slightly flattering scoreline.
