Match Report - 02 Oct 2010, Borden Village FC 1st XI lost to Malgo
Borden were taught a lesson in how to finish by the high flying visitors. The opening period saw Borden taking the game to Malgo in so doing creating some gilt edged chances to take the lead. Resolute defending and excellent goalkeeping denied Mark Barker Jay Law and Adam Roxborough but after 20 mins and against the run of play they were dealt a blow and found themselves a goal down after being caught on the break .Within five minutes Malgo scored again with an excellent individual goal and Borden were now on the back foot. Ten minutes later they were able to reduce the arrears when the referee spotted an infringement and Barker scored from the spot. Almost from the restart Borden conceded again but were thrown a lifeline just before the break when the referee again pointed to the spot. Barker stepped up but this time the keeper went the right way and pulled off a superb save. After the break Borden searched in vain for a second but again were punished by another clinical finish.. In an effort to change things Managers Ian Jackson and Knocker Williams changed the system and pushed more men forward. Malgo were now able to exploit the gaps and added a further 2 goals before Phil Jackson pulled one back Malgo scored again in the dying seconds to take 3 points and leave with a flattering score line.
