Match Report - 20 Mar 2010, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Platt
Although the score line suggests otherwise, Borden completed the league double over Platt with a convincing win. With four players from the previous week unavailable due to both injuries and work commitments a reshuffled Borden started well and dominated the early stages. With the visitors on the back foot the home team looked the more likely to score, but with all their possession failed to create any clear openings. Mid way through the half the visitors gained a corner Borden failed to clear and for the second week running they found themselves a goal down against the run of play. Following the break the home side went all out in search of an equaliser with both Phil Jackson and Adam Roxburgh linking well to penetrate down the right The equaliser came from one of those raids when Roxburgh delivered a ball deep into the box and Lee Marsh headed the ball down to Mark Barker who volleyed the ball into the roof of the net from six yards The home side now sensed victory and with Dan Mills pulling the strings in mid field Borden looked to find the winner and were rewarded with fifteen minutes remaining Ashleigh Taylor found Jackson who in turn sent a perfectly weighted ball down the line to Jay Law whose fine run and resulting cross found substitute Jamie Kurszewski who cooly planted his header wide of the keeper, to give his side a well deserved win For the remainder of the game the visitors pushed three up front but the Borden defence well marshalled by Chris Feliniak held firm.
