Match Report - 13 Mar 2010, Borden Village FC 1st XI lost to Hawkenbury

Borden came back from Tunbridge on Saturday reflecting on what might have been having been punished by two set pieces The visitors were first out of the blocks attacking the home side strongly, but in front of goal failed to capitalise and wasted a couple of good opportunities. After 15 mins Hawkenbury gained a corner against the run of play the resulting kick was driven low into the box and fell to the feet of the home striker who steered it wide of the keeper with Borden’s defence stood watching Straight from the restart Borden came at the home side strongly and 10 mins later scored a deserved equaliser when Lee Marsh put Jay Law through who steadied himself and shot coolly past the keeper for a well taken goal. After the break Borden allowed Hawkenbury back into the game and play was pretty much end to end. Lee Marsh headed over when well placed, and the home side cleared the ball off the line after a goalmouth scramble. With 10 mins left and with a draw looking very much on the cards ,Borden conceded a free kick on the edge of the box The home striker stepped up to hammer the ball into the roof the net giving keeper Michael Neat no chance and collecting three points for his team
