Match Report - 06 Mar 2010, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Chartham Sports
A superb hat trick by Lee Marsh earned Borden all three points on Saturday. Borden were first out of the blocks and should have been two up in the first ten minutes but both Jay Law and then Lee Marsh failed to capitalise. Borden took the lead mid way through the half when Sam Brown played a perfectly weighted ball into the path of the pacey Adam Roxburgh, and his cross was met by Lee Marsh who hammered the ball home. Towards the end of the half the home team were in the driving seat and Law broke through but was upended in the box and Borden were awarded a penalty. The confident Marsh took the ball off Borden’s usual penalty taker captain Mark Barker, and coolly slotted home to put his side further in the lead. Immediately after the break the Borden defence who looked comfortable throughout were caught napping, and the visitors reduced the arrears. The goal gave Chartham heart and it was Borden’s keeper Michael Neat who was the hero next making a tremendous save from a powerful goal bound header. Borden continued to play the better football, and when Lee Marsh played a one two with Jay Law Marsh upon receipt he controlled the ball and placed his shot wide of the keeper to complete his hat trick.
In the dying seconds the visitors scored again but the day and the points deservedly belonged to Borden
