Match Report

Match Report - 06 Feb 2010, Borden Village FC 1st XI drew with Chartham Sports

Borden started well and enjoyed the better of early exchanges but found it difficult to breach a spirited home rearguard Mid way through the half the home side broke swiftly and from midfield played a delightful cross field ball that caught the Borden defence square allowing them in to open the scoring Borden responded well but Chartham doubled their lead ten minutes later with an opportunist goal After the break Borden upped the tempo and began to threaten with strikers Lee Marsh and Jay Law causing the home defence problems. Borden’s Allan Whitehead who had just returned from 6 weeks in Australia was introduced and he made an immediate impact by running on to a square ball and firing a crisp drive into the bottom corner from 25yards The goal lifted Borden who piled on the pressure and ten minutes later the hard working Lee Marsh latched on to a loose ball in the box and hammered home they now found themselves in the driving seat and both Marsh and Law had goal bound efforts saved by the home keeper In the final stages of the match Borden looked odds on to get the winner but Chartham held on for a share of the points
