Match Report - 14 Nov 2009, Borden Village FC Reserves v NEW ROMNEY match cancelled

With Borden’s first team game being postponed their Reserves set off on the long haul to New Romney surprised that the game had not been called off. In high winds and torrential rain the game started and given the dreadful conditions it was Borden that adapted themselves best and took the game to the home side. After 20 mins they were awarded a penalty for a deliberate hand ball on the line and New Romney were reduced to ten men as the offending player was sent off. Sam Teague stepped up for Borden and despatched the penalty giving his side a well deserved lead. Conditions deteriorated further and ten mins later the referee decided to abandon the game leaving a disappointed and bedraggled Borden to face the long journey back home This Saturday Borden’s first team are at home to high flyers Lanes End whilst the Reserves are off on their travels again this time to Otford.
