Match Report - 07 Nov 2009, Borden Village FC 1st XI lost to AFC SEVENOAKS
Borden suffered their first defeat in six league matches at the hands of a well organised Sevenoaks side. From the off the home side took the initiative and central defenders Andy Peters and Lee Sayer had their work cut out in trying to contain their lively attack Borden counter attacked but could not create any real openings Shortly before the break Sevenoaks took a deserved lead when Borden failed to clear their lines.
Ten minutes after the break they added a second when the Borden defence lost concentration and the goal came when a Sevenoaks player shrugged off a challenge to steer the ball wide of Borden’s keeper Michael Neat Shortly afterwards manager Knocker Williams made some changes by introducing substitutes Allan Whitehead and Dan Bryant as well as reshuffling the side The changes seemed to make an immediate effect as it was the visitors turn to apply pressure Lee Marsh produced a fine save from the keeper and Mark Barker headed against the bar. With ten minutes remaining Borden were awarded a free kick which Ashleigh Taylor delivered superbly to enable Lee Marsh to force the ball home at the far post From then on it was all Borden but they had left it to late and Sevenoaks clung on to secure all the points
