Match Report - 17 Oct 2009, Borden Village FC 1st XI drew with Malgo
Borden dominated this Vandanel Kent County League Division Two East game yet only managed to grab a share of the points with an equaliser fifteen minutes from the end. During the first half they played some of their best football so far this season in midfield but the final ball into the danger area was sadly lacking resulting in plenty of possession but rarely threatening the home sides goal. Andy Peters, Phil Jackson, Nick Fuller and Lee Sayer in defence made sure that chances for the home side were also few and far between with solid displays. Borden started slowly in the second half and after twenty minutes, following a poor clearance, Malgo took the lead with a well struck shot from the edge of the box. Borden continued to dominate midfield but could not find a way through until fifteen minutes from the end when Jackson made a good run down the right and crossed to skipper Mark Barker who controlled the ball on his chest and turned to volley a shot into the top of the net from the edge of the box. Both sides went in search of the winner but in the end honours were even and Borden were left to reflect on their inability to create goal scoring chances.
