Match Report - 15 Aug 2009, Borden Village FC 1st XI drew with CHILHAM
Borden travelled to Canterbury Premier League side Chilham on Saturday as part of their pre season build up. In the first half hour the game was pretty evenly balanced with both sides creating scoring chances but with no one seeming to provide the killer touch Eventually the deadlock was broken when Chilham took the lead with a well worked goal Seconds before the break the home side added another after Borden failed to clear their lines Within 2 mins of the restart they reduced the arrears with a spectacular goal from Michael Rose who volleyed in from 18 yards. Ten minutes later Borden conceded another but within 5 mins they were back in the game again when Jay Law shrugged off his marker and from the edge of the box fired a low drive into the bottom corner. Borden were finishing the stronger and got their reward ten minutes from the end when the hard working Ashley Taylor broke free and fired home past the advancing keeper.
