Borden Village FC

Chairman's Corner

11th September 2008

Welcome to the new web site for Borden Village FC and thank you to the secretary, Stuart Lancashire, for setting it up. There is still some areas to tidy up and I am sure Stuart will gradually attend to the gremlins. It is a great source of information for all three sides which we run.

We are now into the new season which I see as one of consolidation for the whole club following the changes which have happened during the close season. Ian Williams is now the sole manager of the first team with Kevin Little continuing to manage the reserves and James Bown in charge of the under 18s. We welcome Cari Creed as coach and I think it fair to say he is having a positive effect on the players. Several players have left but we welcome several new faces and hope that we can get back to enjoying our football. We need to be looking for the u18s making progress into the senior sides and this means all three managers will need to communicate effectively to ensure we progress forward over the next few years.

It is also great to see the start of the extension to the pavilion being built. This has been years in the making but we have been successful in raising over £50000 to actually make it happen. Grants have been agreed by the Football Stadia Improvement Fund, FA National Sports Centre Trust, Barrow Trust, Borden Parish Council and Kent County Council and we are hoping to include improvements to the car park area in the next few months. The extension will include good accomodation for match officials and a disabled toilet.

Let us look forward to a successful season but above all enjoy our football.
